Why Choose Individualized Studies at Wilkes?

If you don鈥檛 find exactly what you鈥檙e looking for among the 45 majors and scores of minors in the broad catalog of 正澳门六合彩开奖直播鈥檚 BA or BS program offerings, the individualized study path could be a great option. You鈥檒l need to submit a proposal articulating which courses you will take to reach the 120-credit requirement for what is, in essence, a custom major made just for you. Students who choose this path are encouraged to work with their advisors to formulate the plan to ensure that all requirements will be met.

What Will You Learn as an Individualized Studies Major?

In addition to the coursework you鈥檝e chosen as part of your individualized study program, all students gain the following skills as the foundations of a 正澳门六合彩开奖直播 education:

  • In your first year, you鈥檒l participate in the First Year Foundations program that will help you to develop self-knowledge and transition smoothly into the Wilkes community of learners.
  • You鈥檒l learn both written and oral communication skills for a variety of applications.
  • You鈥檒l be taught critical thinking strategies, quantitative skills, computer literacy and diversity awareness as part of a global community.

Program Highlights

The Center for Career Development and Internships pairs hundreds of students every year with internships that complement their studies. Many of these internships evolve into paid positions; some even before graduation.

Study Abroad

As a liberal arts institute, 正澳门六合彩开奖直播 values scholars that are broadly trained, critical thinkers, and skilled communicators. The Study Abroad Office works to give all students opportunities to have experiences abroad whether these experiences are a week, summer, or semester-long. Travel options include student exchange to countries including Spain, the UK and Columbia; rich travel experiences abroad with your professors and fellow students to locales such as the Galapagos Islands, Switzerland, Austria, Peru and Malaysia.

Clubs and Organizations

With over 80 active clubs and organizations at Wilkes, you鈥檒l never be bored. Early in your first year you鈥檒l have the opportunity to attend Club Day with your classmates, where you can find clubs of all interests and disciplines. Or you can start your own!

Wilkes was a place for me to foster my intelligence and critical thinking. Keep your options open. Don鈥檛 be afraid to go off road and see what happens.
